Many people have heard of dermaplaning but aren’t exactly sure what it is or if it’s right for them. We’re here to explain the what, the how, and put some myths to rest.
First things first. Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation. It removes the outermost layer of skin (the upper epidermis) and that pesky “peach fuzz”. By removing the dead skin and fuzz, skin is visibly smoother and more radiant. Side effect: Your makeup will go on like butter.
No, your hair will not grow back in thicker or darker.
It really won’t. Hair follicles lie beneath the epidermis in the dermis. Dermaplaning merely touches the surface of the skin. As our esthetician, Laura, says, “A bald man wouldn’t shave to grow hair!” In other words, what you do to the bottom of a hair shaft will have no affect on how it grows. Age and hormones are often responsible for changes in hair texture and color. That, we can’t help you with. Sorry! 🙂
Pair it with an enzyme treatment.
To achieve maximum results, we recommend pairing a dermaplane sesh with one of our Glo enzyme treatments (aka chemical peels). The reason for this is, after dermaplaning, your skin more readily absorbs whatever you put on it. So, it might as well be something good! If you’ve ever wanted to achieve super dewy and glowing skin…this combo is a sure bet. To learn more about the types of peels we offer, what they do, and which one might be best for you, check out this post!
So, where do I start?
You can start by giving us a call or coming in to schedule an appointment! You can also schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our skin care professionals. On the day of your treatment, we will have you fill out a bit of paperwork and then we’ll make you glow like you’ve never glowed before!
How much does it cost?
We offer dermaplaning as a standalone service for $60 or in addition to a facial for $40. For maintenance, we recommend monthly treatments. We also have a nifty thing called a Spa Wellness Membership and one of the VIP services you receive is dermaplaning with an enzyme treatment! So, if you plan to get monthly treatments and want some awesome discounts, we highly recommend going the membership route!
We hope this article shed some light on one of our favorite treatments! As always, feel free to give us a call or comment below to share your opinions or ask questions.
